Where you choose to travel matters
We always want you to explore the world, but we also want you to go and come back safely. If you’re visiting a country (or part of a country) the Australian Government says travellers shouldn’t visit, we may not be able to provide you with emergency assistance if you need it.
This isn’t because we don’t want to help you – it’s because sometimes we can’t. If a destination is currently unsafe, it makes it harder for us to help you.
For example: If you travel to a war zone, the airspace may be closed. And if you need to be repatriated or evacuated from that country, the closed airspace may stop us from getting in and getting you out.
Even if your claim or reason for needing help doesn’t relate to the government’s warning, we still might not be able to help.
So, before you book – and before you go – don’t forget to check the New Zealand Government’s SafeTravel* website. If your destination(s) are listed as ‘Avoid non-essential travel’ or ‘Do not travel’, it’s important to follow the government’s advice.
*Or the equivalent authority responsible in your country of residence for setting advisories for citizens and/or residents.
Any advice is general advice only. Please consider your financial situation, needs, and objectives, and read the Policy Wording before deciding to buy this insurance.
