Travel alerts and warnings: how world events can affect your policy

We love that you love to travel. And while we always want you to go, we also want you to come home safely. That’s why you apply SPF50 to your holiday with travel insurance – and why we’re here to care for you, 24/7.

But having cover for holiday mishaps is only part of the story. Knowing what’s going on in the world – and how it could affect your trip, your safety, or your policy – matters too.

Our travel alerts and warnings page is where we keep you up to speed with the global events that may affect you (our travellers), whether you’ve just bought a policy, or you’re already on your trip.

If you’re planning to travel to one of the destinations mentioned in our advice section below, or you’re already there, you should read the relevant travel alert to understand how this world event could affect your travel plans – and your travel insurance policy.

We want you to travel far, but travel smart.

This means checking to see if past advice is still relevant for your trip, so don’t skim over the below travel alerts before buying your Cover-More travel insurance policy or leaving home.

This also means it’s super important for you to read and understand the New Zealand Government's current travel advice level for your destination(s) before you jet off and during your trip, so visit safetravel.govt.nz now and bookmark it for later.

Read the big print: If you’re going to a country (or part of the country) the New Zealand Government has marked as ‘Do not travel’, it’s likely the destination is unsafe, and any claim you make relating to the warning will not be covered.
