      Underwriter update regarding outbreak of the Zika Virus

      This advice applies to customers who are concerned or may be affected by the known outbreak of the Zika Virus.

      On the 22nd January 2016, the New Zealand Government advised that a number of countries had been affected by an outbreak of a mosquito-borne virus known as the Zika Virus.

      Your policy provides a number of benefits, conditions, limits and exclusions that may be relevant to Your travel plans. You should read the Policy Wording which outlines the extent of Your travel insurance cover. Some words used in this document have a special meaning as defined in the Policy Wording.

      Please note our original advisory was release on 28th January 2016, therefore, this has been considered as a known ongoing event since that date.

      Further, for all policies issued after 01/06/2017, underwritten by Zurich New Zealand Limited, this event is considered to be an Epidemic which is excluded under certain sections of the policy.

      This information must be read in conjunction with the Policy Wording as certain terms, conditions, limits and exclusions apply. These terms, conditions, limits and exclusions are detailed in the Policy Wording and in particular we draw Your attention to ‘The Benefits’ and ‘General Exclusions’ sections of the Policy Wording.
